HOLLYWOOD at BSA/MUSEUM BUILDING
Did you know the the Boston Fire Museum building at 344 Congress St. had worked with two Hollywood ‘s motion movies companies?
Back in 2005, the movie THE DEPARTED was filmed in many locations around Boston. The Departed starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga and Alec Baldwin. During the filming, many scenes were shot in south Boston and the 344 played its part by hosting much of the cast and equipment for the movie crews duration of filming. One major scene was filmed in the back lot of our 344 Congress Street Building with use of 11 Farnsworth building (then under renovation) as the setting for a police shootout. The abutting alley way between Farnsworth and Thomson place (adjacent to the rear of our building) was another favorite spot. The movie was a big hit during its release in 2006. The Departed is a Warner Brothers Film
In 2009, Hollywood returned with 20th Century Fox filming of Knight and Day, staring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz. Well over a months preparation went into the 344 for two day filming on the set location. The top floor front room and engine bay were used as part of the set.
